Routes to Skills & Employability

The Routes to Skills and Employability project is part-financed by the European Social Fund and the Department for Employment & Learning under the Northern Ireland ESF Programme 2007-13. With a variety of learning opportunities for those who are unemployed or working less than 16 hours, the programme enables learners to develop the skills and qualifications necessary to be competitive in today’s labour market.

A number of learning opportunities are available from beginner to more advanced with clear progression routes available.  Learners can undertake Essential Skills in English & Maths, from Entry to Level 2.  Delivered by experienced tutors, these 14 week courses will equip learners with literacy and numeracy skills required for everyday life and work.

A variety of both accredited and non-accredited Personal Development courses are also available and enable learners to build confidence and self-esteem.  For those wanting to develop their computer skills our ICT courses provide skills training from beginner level to advanced including ECDL, New CLAIT, Sage Accounts and OCR Word and Text Processing.

Footprints have designed and developed a number of short skills programmes to provide learners with the necessary skills and qualifications required to progress into employment and/or further education and learning, these include:

  • Team Leadership & First Line Management  (ILM)
  • Administration Skills
  • Finance & Accounts
  • ICT
  • Catering & Hospitality Skills

These programmes are supported with Jobsearch and Interview skills training.
