Footprints celebrate 20 years of providing valuable services to the community
Twenty years ago Footprints Women’s Centre held its first AGM. When the AGM commenced, every seat was taken and there was standing room only in the small packed bungalow that buzzed with excitement and anticipation of women ‘doing it for themselves’. Each year since, the AGM has maintained its energy and enthusiasm and continues to be a main focal point, offering an opportunity not only to celebrate achievements but also to account to members for the work being carried out in their name. Founder member, Mary McNeill and Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors, feels very passionately about the Centre’s achievements over the last 20 years, “Footprints has developed beyond our dreams. We have a purpose built women’s centre that meets high levels of need on a daily basis from support to adult learning services. Our children’s services department is widely regarded as a model of excellence and we are one of the largest employers within the community, operating a very successful social enterprise.”
On the 8th September 2011 at 11am Footprints Women’s Centre will hold its 20th AGM. Chairperson, Isobel Loughran, extends a warm welcome to both past and present members – “This year’s AGM is a very special occasion for us and it is an event that we want to share with friends, old and new. The Centre has grown from strength to strength over the last 2 decades and plays a vital and integral role within the community. We are very proud of the fact that our Board of Directors are all representative of the local community and therefore very much in touch with the needs of the Colin Neighbourhood.” The Board of Directors of Footprints Women’s Centre are looking forward to this year’s event, at which we hope to celebrate not only the last year but to launch our 20 year celebrations.
