Women from All Over Leave Their Food Footprint
Footprints Women’s Centre hosted seven community Food Initiatives from across Ireland on 21st September 2011. The networking event was organised to enable groups to share good practice and explore the long term sustainability of the projects. The event took place as part of the Demonstration programme of Community Food Initiatives, a three year programme funded by Safefood for All.
Footprints Women’s Centre has developed a kitchen garden through the project and is growing fresh fruit and vegetables for use in Footprints Catering Services as well as for residents in the Colin Neighbourhood.
The Food Initiatives are situated in Killarney Limerick, Cork, Dundalk, Derry, East Belfast Mission and Footprints Women’s Centre. Each Initiatives is working towards improving access to healthy, nutritious food within their community and tackling food poverty.
